About the Role
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this Financial Accountant role will play a key part in delivering accurate and timely financial information, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring statutory compliance. You will partner closely with senior management and operational teams, providing insights to drive performance and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining accounting ledgers and completing bank reconciliations
- Managing fixed asset registers and preparing monthly depreciation journals
- Preparing monthly financial reports, including commentary on business performance
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts and overseeing intercompany transactions
- Preparing and lodging compliance returns (BAS, FBT, TPAR)
- Supporting business unit managers with budgets and variance analysis
- Assisting with year-end reporting, including liaison with auditors
- Driving improvements in internal controls, processes, and systems
- Supporting ad hoc projects and providing financial and non-financial analysis
The ideal candidate will be a motivated and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. You will bring strong technical skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to engage with stakeholders across the business.
Key requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or Commerce
- CPA or CA qualification (or near completion)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar Financial Accountant role or a first mover from mid tier or Big 4 firm.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and compliance requirements
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems highly regarded
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritise tasks, and maintain attention to detail
