My client is one of Melbourne’s largest NFP providers, known for its well-established and respected brand. As a national market leader experiencing significant growth and expansion, the organisation is focused on delivering improved services to the community. This role is ideal for an ambitious Assistant Accountant seeking to broaden their experience and step into a Financial Accountant position.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the main responsibilities of this role include:
- Manage monthly results, reporting, variance analysis and commentary for assigned cost centres, and respond to business queries.
- Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with the organisation's services and key stakeholders.
- Lead budget preparation for assigned cost centres and maintain annual and long service leave provisions.
- Process payroll entries and accruals, liaise with payroll for reconciliations, and maintain bank balances and reconciliations.
- Monitor cash balances, record investment portfolio transactions, and prepare monthly journals with correct accounting treatment.
- Ensure timely lodgement of GST/FBT and Imputation Credit returns, and complete general ledger reconciliations.
- Maintain depreciation and funding schedules, and prepare working schedules to support year-end processes.
- Manage the month-end close timetable and produce ad-hoc reports and data analysis as required.
- Coordinate responses to external auditor enquiries and complete government surveys on time.
- Provide support across all entities, participate in meetings/training, and ensure compliance with legislation and policies.
The Candidate
You are CA/CPA qualified (or near completion) and have a minimum of 3 years' experience in an Assistant Accountant or Financial Accountant role. You possess strong technical accounting knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to build effective professional relationships across the organisation. You also have strong written communication skills and are looking to step into a challenging and rewarding position.
