Position Summary
The primary focus of the Financial Accountant is to provide accounting and related financial support in a timely, accurate, cost effective and flexible manner to achieve business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Finance and Accounting
- Monitor and analyse accounting data and produce financial reports
- Budgeting, forecasting and business case scenario modelling
- Bank reconciliations
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Accrual Schedules
- Payroll Reconciliations
- Payments Suspense Reconciliation & Fixed Asset Entry
- Contract management
- BAS/FBT and other compliance matters
- Assist with Internal Audit Program
- Assist with External Audit Program
- Policy review and preparation
- Assist with implementation of new systems
- Assist in covering payroll function
- Assist with other duties as directed by the Group Financial Reporting Manager
- Monthly management reports including support of systems for communication of business information
- Monthly financial reports
- Preparation of year-end accounts and financial statements
- Liaise with staff and/or management on finance related queries
- Develop an in-depth awareness and understanding of the business in order to communicate with key stakeholders on matters such as costs and operational efficiencies
- Working with internal, external, and tax auditors
- Undertake such other duties as may be prescribed from time to time by the Group Financial Controller, Finance Business Partner or Group Reporting Manager.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement of reporting systems, processes, and procedures to ensure best practice
- Ensure compliance with all current legislation and regulations (i.e. State and Federal laws) and relevant awards and agreements
- Tertiary qualifications in finance or accounting qualification with a professional accounting body (CPA/CA) or intent to obtain professional accounting body qualification
- High level of computer literacy and proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheet and data software
- Excellent time management skills including the ability to plan, set priorities and meet deadlines with flexibility to alter priorities to meet changing demands
- Proven high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrates initiative and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
