Financial Accountant
A well-established organisation is seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join their finance team at their Melbourne-based support centre. This role reports to the Financial Accounting Manager and plays a key part in delivering accurate monthly financial reports and statements that support strategic decision-making across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance & Reporting
  • Assist in the preparation and lodgment of various tax obligations including:
    • Yearly FBT submissions and information gathering
    • Monthly BAS preparation and control checks
    • Bi-monthly NZ GST lodgements
    • TPAR and other statutory lodgements
  • Support the preparation of income tax returns
Intercompany Transactions
  • Oversee intercompany AR/AP transactions and reconciliation
  • Coordinate with international counterparts for monthly statements and settlements
  • Process FX adjustments and prepare intercompany reporting for group consolidation
  • Investigate and resolve HFM balance variances
Month-End & Cost Centre Reporting
  • Complete month-end activities including accruals and adjustments
  • Ensure accuracy of support function cost allocations and reporting
Leased Assets
  • Maintain lease accounting in line with IFRS16
  • Reconcile lease data and ensure accurate journal entries
Payroll Accounting
  • Post payroll journals and reconcile related accounts
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation payment processing and reporting
Other Duties
  • Support the Financial Accounting Manager with offshore team coordination, audits, and ad hoc projects
  • Assist in preparing annual financial information for external audits
  • Contribute to interim and year-end audit processes
  • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to validate balance sheet account integrity
About You:
  • Degree in Accounting
  • Progress toward CA/CPA qualification (preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in financial accounting
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS and income tax legislation
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (desirable)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving and prioritisation abilities
