Role Overview:
As the Fleet & Equipment Manager, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our fleet of vehicles, assets, and equipment. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our fleet remains in optimal condition to meet operational requirements and safety standards. Your expertise in mechanical trade will be crucial in overseeing maintenance schedules, conducting inspections, and implementing effective repair and maintenance strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee all maintenance activities, ensuring timely servicing, repairs, and replacement of parts.
  • Manage CMMS inputs and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure fleet availability meets operational needs.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and overseeing their performance.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of the fleet.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to fleet and equipment operations, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the maintenance team, assisting with complex repairs or diagnostics when necessary.

Working with the National Fleet & Equipment Manager:
  • Develop and manage a replacement plan for existing equipment, with scheduled introductions of new equipment and disposal of legacy equipment.
  • Develop business cases for new equipment types that support the business strategy.
  • Prepare Capex submissions for new equipment approvals

Requirements:
  • Certification or diploma in mechanical trade or related field is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in fleet management, equipment maintenance, or a similar role within the transport / logistics or heavy equipment sector.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and diagnostic techniques.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards related to fleet and equipment management.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using fleet management software and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
