The Role:
Reporting to the CFO, the GM ICT will lead the organisation’s ICT function, playing a crucial role in developing a Digital Strategy, formulating the optimal IT Operating Model, advancing internal capabilities, improving system integration, and strengthening cybersecurity.
This position is instrumental in managing the organisation's reliance on external Managed Service Providers (MSPs) while fostering stronger internal expertise, control, and responsiveness to enabling the organisation's current and future needs. The GM ICT will also be responsible for developing and implementing ICT policies that ensure alignment with the organisation’s strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
The role encompasses developing long-term technology roadmaps, improving the cybersecurity posture of the organization, overseeing cloud migration, and ensuring that all IT services contribute to the overall mission. Additionally, the GM ICT will work closely with leadership to raise awareness of information management best practices and ensure secure, efficient handling of data across the organization.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day IT operations, ensuring strong focus to ensure integrity of BAU operations is maintained.
- Develop and execute ICT Strategy, Digital Roadmaps and other core ICT artefacts that align with organizational goals, supporting long-term growth and efficiency in internal IT services.
- Formulate and implement ICT policies that enable good ICT governance, guide the management of technology, security, and data usage, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal governance.
- Lead ICT operations with a focus on efficiency, innovation, and security, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Gradually reduce reliance on MSPs by building internal ICT capacity, improving agility, security, and cost-efficiency while maintaining cooperative relationships with external providers as needed.
- Oversee the migration to cloud-based services (particularly Microsoft 365) as quickly as feasible, to benefit from enhanced security, scalability, and collaboration.
- Ensure integration of business and IT systems to reduce manual processes, increase efficiency, and improve automated workflow.
- Lead efforts to meet Level 1 of the Essential Eight Cybersecurity Maturity Model within 12 months, improving the organization's resilience against cyber threats.
- Drive cybersecurity improvements and address any internal audit findings.
- Drive general cybersecurity improvements, implementing best practices and regularly assessing the organization’s security posture.
- Provide training and development programs for users to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills to leverage new technologies and follow cybersecurity best practices.
- Provide training and upskilling of leaders and managers to drive improved technological literacy
- Collaborate on information management strategies, ensuring the secure handling, storage, and access to organizational data, while promoting awareness of proper data management protocols.
- Vendor Management, ensuring high-quality service delivery, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and identify procurement savings
- Lead and manage the ICT team, promoting a culture of accountability, inclusivity, professional growth, and high performance.
- Prepare monthly reports for Executive Committee, Board and Board sub-committee meetings as and when required.
- Support the organisation as it embarks on a transformational building upgrade ensuring continuity of ICT services.
- Provide ongoing support to the retail store network with particular emphasis on the in-store Point-of-Sale systems and work closely with the Project Management team in the delivery of new stores.
