Our client, a leader in infrastructure and operational services, seeks an accomplished Manager – Group Assets to drive the performance, reliability, and value of a large national asset portfolio. Reporting to the CFO, this pivotal leadership role will develop and execute whole-of-lifecycle strategies to optimize asset utilization, minimize risk, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
The Role
With a primary focus on heavy road vehicles, plant, equipment, facilities, and workshop operations, the Manager – Group Assets will provide effective stewardship across multiple states. You’ll lead a skilled team, overseeing asset acquisition, performance, maintenance, and replacement—balancing cost, opportunity, and risk management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and monitoring policies, standards and systems for asset and fleet management.
- Preparing capital budgets, asset management plans and productivity reports.
- Driving improvements in asset management systems, integrating with financial reporting as required.
- Overseeing leasing, purchasing, disposal, and compliance for vehicles, plant and equipment.
- Managing workshops and external service providers to ensure quality and cost control.
- Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing team of specialists across Victoria, NSW, QLD and ACT.
- Preparing technical specifications, reports, and business cases to support informed decision-making.
- Ensuring strong stakeholder engagement with internal leadership and external regulatory bodies.
To succeed in this leadership challenge, you bring:
- 10+ years proven experience in asset management, with a strong focus on heavy fleet/road vehicles.
- Demonstrated team leadership and people management capabilities.
- Sound understanding of asset lifecycle, risk, and cost management.
- Superior analytical, reporting, negotiation, and project planning skills.
- Experience optimising manual and digital asset management systems.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging all levels of stakeholder.
- Continuous improvement mindset and a track record of driving innovation.
- High degree of computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint; asset management systems).
