Sharp and Carter are working with a leading Brisbane based Resources business to find a Group Financial Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY
A key team member to support a responsive, professional and flexible Corporate and F & A team working in an established Financial Management System and Culture that assures the timeliness, reliability and accuracy of financial reporting, effectiveness and efficiency of operations and compliance with applicable laws.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Ensuring adherence to the Groups’ standards and best practices of financial reporting
• Maintaining current knowledge of financial regulations, accounting practices and audit software products
• Maintaining compliance and support to state and federal legislation obligations (income tax, CGT, TARP, payroll tax, GST, FBT, PTR and LSL)
• Managing key elements of group, joint venture and subsidiary monthly management and board reporting
• Supporting and maintaining detailed corporate financial model including the provision of detailed cash flow projections, financial statements
• Compiling financial data and account ledgers for the purpose of consolidating and analysing financial statements and results
• Attending to monthly Pulse ERP general ledger reconciliations and preparation of compliance filing workbooks
• Investigation and resolution of accounting discrepancies, movements, and irregularities
• Assisting in the preparation of annual IFRS statutory financial statements
• Supporting the external audit process including preparation of comprehensive audit workpapers, responding to audit queries and research AASB technical issues and treatments
• Supporting the day to day treasury activities for the Group and related JV entities
• Supporting internal audit plan tasks and risk control framework testing
• Supporting the Accounts Payable function through vendor set-up approvals, general ledger reconciliations, inactive vendor database cleanse and compliance reporting
• Assuming a lead role in the joint venture export sales ERP accounting, contract adjustments to invoices, reconciliations, outstanding shipments ATB, regular contact with marketing and logistics service providers, BAS compliance filings and distribution of sales proceeds and reporting to JV Participants.
• Assist with special technical and commercial projects scoping and outcomes delivery

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Accounting or related tertiary qualifications
• CA/CPA or equivalent
• 2 + years’ experience in the mining/manufacturing/industrials industry in a financial accounting role
Prior working experience in the resources sector beneficial.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES
• Advanced xl and financial modelling skills - possessing the ability to use spreadsheets, graphing, pivot tables, calculations, and automation efficiently to process large quantities of data relevant to business tasks
• Well-developed skills to plan, prioritise and organise workload effectively, while adhering to quality standards and procedures
• Possess a pro-active attitude to business issues with the ability to be innovative when problem solving and decision making
