About the Role:
We are partnering with an industry-leading business in Parramatta to recruit a Head of Payroll Position. This role will oversee and transform the payroll function across Australia. While the National Payroll Manager leads the day-to-day operations, you will focus on strategic initiatives, process improvement, and payroll transformation, ensuring payroll evolves into a true business enabler.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the national payroll transformation strategy, including system implementations, process standardisation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee compliance, reporting, and governance across all payroll operations (over 3000 employees)
  • Manage and mentor the National Payroll Manager and broader payroll team
  • Own payroll systems
  • Develop policies, frameworks, and dashboards to optimise payroll efficiency and decision-making
  • Partner with Finance, HR, and Operations to provide strategic guidance and thought leadership
  • Drive change management initiatives and lead key payroll-related projects
About You:
  • Proven experience in senior payroll leadership roles
  • Strong technical payroll knowledge, including legislative compliance and multi-site payroll operations
  • Track record in payroll transformation and process improvement
  • Experience with Kronos is essential; SAP and Workday knowledge highly desirable
  • Strong stakeholder management and change leadership capabilities
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate payroll operations into business value
