About the role:
This particular practice group are after a lawyer who has experience across insurance, representing the defendant. You will be reporting to and working closely with a highly regarded Partner, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your experience and grow your career.
Some of your responsibilities are to:
  • Draft letting of demand, court documents and settlement deeds
  • Liaise with witnesses and preparing statements
  • Research and providing legal analysis
  • Prepare and reviewing discovered documents and evidence
  • Engage and liaising with independent experts, counsel, opposing lawyers and mediators
  • Prepare advices including on liability, prospects, quantum, costs and strategy
  • Prepare advice on indemnity, liability, reserves and strategy (optional for commercial property matters - subject to PAE)
  • Appear at court, conferences and mediations and negotiating settlements
  • Prepare briefs and instructing counsel during court hearings, mediations and conferences
  • Collaborate with senior practitioners and other team members
  
About you:
You are interested in being a part of a national team, wanting to continue to develop your insurance experience.

Some of the skills and experience you need to help you succeed in this role are:
  • You hold a current practicing certificate for New South Wales
  • You bring 1-5 years PAE working principally in insurance and litigation
  • Experience and exposure to recovery claims is highly desirable
  • Exposure to commercial property matters is desired but not essential
  • You are self-driven, have excellent verbal and written communication, and time management skills
  • You can manage competing priorities effectively
  • You can demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, particular the ability to earn the confidence and trust of key stakeholders
  • You pride yourself on being a team player who is professional, client focused and supportive of your colleagues
