The Opportunity

We’re seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel – ANZ to join a dynamic in-house legal team based in Melbourne. Reporting to the General Counsel – ANZ, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing timely, practical, and strategic legal advice across Australian and New Zealand operations.

Key Responsibilities

As Legal Counsel, you’ll:
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including supply, sales, IT, and confidentiality contracts.
  • Provide legal support on intellectual property protection and brand integrity.
  • Advise on marketing, advertising, and product launches to ensure compliance with consumer and competition laws.
  • Support product safety initiatives, recalls, and liability claims.
  • Partner with the business to implement ESG and compliance programs (e.g. anti-bribery, modern slavery, and climate reporting).
  • Deliver legal training and keep teams informed on legislative developments.
  • Collaborate with global and regional legal colleagues to share best practices and drive improvement.
  • Manage external counsel and ensure effective, value-driven legal support.
About You
You’re a proactive, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented lawyer with:
  • A Bachelor of Laws and current Victorian practising certificate.
  • 2+ years’ PQE gained in a reputable firm or in-house team.
  • Strong experience in contract negotiation, consumer and competition law, and data privacy.
  • Solid understanding of IP and brand protection.
  • Excellent communication skills and commercial acumen.
  • The ability to build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and manage multiple priorities.
    Experience in product liability, global supply chains, or New Zealand law will be well regarded.
