DUTIES

The Manager, Publications will be required to provide high level publishing and editorial expertise to the Workforce, Communications and Adoption, Levied and Emerging Industries and Rural Futures teams. The main priority of this role is to publish final research reports and associated documents across various channels to enable further communications and extension outputs.

In this role, you will be responsible for the management of publications relating to Workforce, Communications and Adoption, Levied and Emerging Industries and Rural Futures and a number of duties across a variety of programs and activities including:
  • Modelling AgriFutures Australia’s values
  • End to end management of a streamlined publishing process that delivers consistent and high-quality digital outputs to internal and external stakeholders ensuring governance and quality assurance controls have been checked along the way
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships
  • Daily stakeholder interactions with internal stakeholders such as Program Managers and Communications Mangers
  • Daily stakeholder engagement with external stakeholders such as researchers, Extension Officers (contractors), Advisory Panels, other RDCs and suppliers (i.e. printers, designers and additional contractors) to deliver high quality and consistent final outputs that support project and AgriFutures Australia strategic objectives
  • Ownership and coordination of publishing process and workflow relating to project outputs including, but not limited to final reports, summaries, fact sheets etc.
  • Review and editing (including style, grammar, formatting) of outputs to ensure outputs are ready for external publication
  • End to end management of additional overflow work that may be outsourced to external contractors/editors including quality checks
  • End to end management of publishing the final research report and associated outputs across relevant channels including but not limited to on AgriFutures Australia website, publication cataloguing, printing, and archiving
  • Managing the publications print on demand service
  • Facilitating any enquiries relating to current and historical publications
  • Development and management of templates to assist internal and external stakeholders with the review and feedback process
  • Training and support for Program Managers and researchers relating to publications output development and delivery
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the delivery of the publications workflow and interactions with stakeholders
  • Responsibility for securing a roster of reliable, expert, and experienced external contractors and providers (ie. designers, technical and scientific writers, printers, copy writers, editors etc)
  • Maintaining a records management system for publications workflow
  • Other duties as required.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Tertiary qualification in writing / communications or professional experience in professional editorial and/or publishing with 5+ years’ experience
  • Proficient in all forms of editing, formatting and proofreading
  • Demonstrated experience digital publishing
  • Demonstrated experience in managing contractors such as other editors, designers, printers etc.
  • Demonstrated experience developing customer and client relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in quality systems management as it relates to publication materials
  • Familiar with video conferencing / webinar programs
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Preferred proficiency in Adobe Creative – Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
