About the Position
This key senior leadership role reports to the General Manager Assets and Infrastructure and is a critical role within the Asset and Infrastructure Services Department. This position is responsible for leading and managing the branch to deliver key strategic priorities, drive continuous improvement, and foster a safety-first culture.
The role will lead a significant and diverse workforce of circa 400 people that deliver maintenance and related services across Council’s roads and related infrastructure, as well as their parks and other open space/natural assets.
The position will oversee the implementation of critical systems to improve efficiency in planning, and will be responsible for the delivery of Council’s Open Space Maintenance Improvement Strategy. Additionally, it will ensure the effective deployment of staff through a centralised scheduling function, enabling the branch to deliver services aligned with Council’s corporate objectives. The role will require a balance of strategic oversight, operational management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure that both financial and non-financial performance targets are met.
About the Person
We are seeking a highly visible, empathetic, ethical and customer focused leader who possesses extensive experience managing similar large-scale operational services, demonstrating the ability to meet both strategic and tactical objectives. Ideally, you will bring aligned leadership experience from within either a government environment and/or private sector organisation that delivers a range of similar services to its customers. You should bring strong financial management capabilities and be adept at delivering quality services while navigating complex governance and risk management frameworks. You will be adept at leading change and continuous improvement initiatives, complemented by effective interpersonal and communication as you will be required to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders. A relevant professional qualification/substantial equivalent experience and post graduate qualification would be advantageous.
