As part of this growth strategy, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced National Transport Manager to join our team and drive operational excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement across Australia and New Zealand.

Role Overview: Reporting to the Country Manager, the National Transport Manager will play a pivotal role in managing, developing, and implementing continuous improvement (CI) projects to maximize operational efficiencies and achieve commercial targets. This role will involve collaborating with state managers and cross-functional teams to lead the creation and implementation of best practice strategies, policies, processes, and procedures for national linehaul operations. The successful candidate will leverage outstanding relationships within the executive leadership team (ELT) and maintain a flexible approach focused on efficiency, waste reduction, quality, compliance, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement:
    • Lead and manage CI projects to drive operational efficiencies and optimize performance across Australia and New Zealand.
    • Collaborate with state managers and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and implement best practices.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, analyze trends, and identify areas for enhancement.
    • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the organization.
  2. Strategic Leadership and Vision:
    • Develop and implement a best practice national linehaul vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with business objectives.
    • Lead the development and implementation of policies, processes, and procedures to improve operational performance and achieve commercial targets.
    • Provide strategic direction and guidance to state managers and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of linehaul operations with overall business goals.
  3. Stakeholder Management and Relationship Building:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including the ELT, state managers, operations teams, and other functional areas.
    • Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities, to optimize service delivery and drive value-added solutions.
    • Act as a key point of contact for escalated issues, inquiries, and feedback related to linehaul operations.
  4. Team Development and Leadership:
    • Manage, develop, and mentor state managers and cross-functional teams to enhance their skills, performance, and career growth opportunities.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and excellence.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear goals and expectations, and provide constructive feedback and recognition.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proven experience in Transport management, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence (Linehaul a bonus)
  • Strong COR and Safety (regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and industry best practices).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute complex transportation strategies and initiatives.
