About the Company

Our client is a leading council, responsible for delivering a wide range of community services as well as maintaining essential community infrastructure.  They are looking for a Payroll System Specialist with Chris21 knowledge to support their supportive and high performing payroll team.  


The Role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing specialist payroll advice and support on HRIS systems, reporting and business improvement initiatives to ensure efficiencies and best practice.
  • Reviewing current practices and making recommendations on improvement initiatives. This also includes scoping options, project management of new systems and driving the change management process.  
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative changes and keeping up with best practice and the needs of the organisation.
  • Ensuring all salary related documentation and payments are processed accurately and on time.
  • Providing and assisting the Payroll Coordinator in the review, development and delivery of an effective payroll process and systems consistent with legislative requirements and best practice.
  • Ensuring the full delivery of the payroll service during periods when payroll staff are on leave
  • Preparing internal payroll reports and data as required and preparing external information for ABS payroll related surveys
  • Providing assistance and training to support the HR Services team to produce reports
  • Providing consistent, well-informed and accurate advice on payroll and system related matters.

The successful applicant will have
  • Prior experience within a similar payroll system specialist role using Chris21/iChris is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work in a team based environment
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise urgent work
  • Analytical skills and an ability to think outside the box
