An opportunity has become available for an experienced and motivated Payroll Manager to join a well‑established organisation based in Brisbane. This role is central to ensuring the efficient, compliant and strategic management of payroll operations, employee services, and people‑related systems across a multi‑state workforce. You will oversee the delivery of accurate payroll processes, champion continuous improvement, and provide governance and leadership across employee information, reporting and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the CFO, this critical position requires a highly organised, detail‑oriented and solutions‑focused professional. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading governance and best‑practice management of employee and payroll information systems.
- Managing a high-performing team of five within payroll.
- Overseeing weekly and fortnightly payroll across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely distribution.
- Ensuring adherence to all relevant industrial instruments, employment legislation, taxation requirements and reporting obligations.
- Planning, evaluating and implementing payroll and people‑related system improvements.
- Managing legislative updates and embedding compliant practices across all employee services functions.
- Providing expert guidance to managers on entitlements, award interpretation and employee‑related queries.
- Implementing audit schedules and exception reporting to proactively identify and resolve issues.
You will bring a passion for people, operations and a commitment to delivering accurate, high‑quality payroll and employee services. You will also have:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively in a complex environment.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management capability.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels.

- High proficiency with payroll and HRIS systems and experience leading system upgrades or process improvements.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi‑state payroll operations.
