About the role: 
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Payroll professional to join a small team on the North Shore in a medium sized organisation. They are seeking a candidate who has a strong passion for the payroll industry, and an interest in working closely with the Finance team to ensure the payroll is processed correctly. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • End-to-End Payroll: Process payroll, including handling new starters, bank changes, superannuation, salary adjustments, allowances and deductions, and terminations.
  • Payroll Compliance: Follow documented payroll checking procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy in all payroll tasks.
  • Termination Payments: Assist with the calculation and processing of termination payments.
  • PAYG, Super, and Third-Party Payments: Support the administration and processing of PAYG, superannuation, and other third-party payments.
  • Month End Management: Management of all payroll month end tasks e.g - Reconciliations, Lodging Payroll Tax submissions, Journals, Payroll reporting and any year end responsibilities
  • Audit and Discrepancy Follow-Up: Review audit reports for each payroll cycle and assist with resolving any discrepancies.
  • Report Preparation: Assist with preparing regular payroll reports as required.
  • Leadership: Support and guide one other payroll team member in their work.
  • Process Improvement: They have a fairly manual payroll, work closely with the business leaders to identify areas of improvement to improve operations.
The successful applicant will have proven experience in a similar role, as well as the following attributes:
  • Competent working in a small team managing an end to end Payroll in a stand-alone capacity, has knowledge of all components of the payroll cycle.
  • Has a can do attitude - someone who is willing to be hands on and support the team as required
  • Knowledge of Payroll month end tasks 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous experience interpreting EBA's/Awards
