About the Role
We have been exclusively engaged to recruit a Payroll Team Lead with a reputable global business located in Western Sydney.

This role requires an experienced and skilled Senior Payroll officer to take ownership of the end-to-end payroll operations across Australia and New Zealand, while mentoring and guiding the existing team and remaining hands-on in weekly processing. Reporting into the Payroll Manager, you will coach, mentor and lead a team of three. 

You will also play a key role in driving automation, improving process, and helping to create a true centre of excellence for payroll. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys leading from the front, finding smarter ways of working, and operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Lead and mentor a payroll team of 3
  • End-to-end weekly payroll processing across Australia and New Zealand
  • Ensure full compliance with PAYG, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, FBT, and ATO requirements.
  • Interpretation and apply 3 Australian EBAs and NZ legislation
  • Manage payroll tax, workers’ compensation, group tax, and end-of-month reporting.
  • Managing complex payroll queries and stakeholder issues.
  • Ensuring system accuracy, including reviewing calculations and identifying discrepancies
  • Supporting payroll process improvements and system optimisation
  • Contributing to payroll system enhancements and potential implementation projects. 
About You
This role requires a rare combination of technical depth and team leadership capability. You will bring 
  • Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation and compliance (PAYG, Super, FBT, etc.). 
  • Strong EBA interpretation experience. 
  • Deep understanding of payroll systems and calculation logic
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Experience mentoring or coaching within a payroll team
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence handling complex queries
  • Exposure to system implementation or payroll transformation projects (highly regarded)
