The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Payroll Team Lead to join a well-known, iconic brand. This role will see you leading a small payroll team of 4 while overseeing the delivery of accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll services in a high-volume environment. Their vibrant & modern office is based in the inner-city suburbs in Richmond with flexibility to work 2 days per week from home.
In this role, you’ll take charge of the payroll function, guiding your team to meet deadlines, maintain compliance, and deliver exceptional service to the business. You’ll be hands-on in processing, while also focusing on team leadership, reporting, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a small payroll team, providing coaching, support, and regular performance feedback
- Oversee payroll operations for both Australia and New Zealand, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legislation
- Monitor and interpret awards, enterprise agreements, and leave entitlements
- Prepare and review payroll reports, reconciliations, and journal entries for month-end and year-end cycles
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify efficiencies and streamline workflows
- Contribute to payroll-related projects and system enhancements
- Proven experience managing or supervising payroll in a large, multi-site business
- Prior payroll system implementation experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll requirements, including award interpretation
- Skilled in payroll reporting, reconciliations, and problem-solving
- Familiarity with large payroll systems
- Confident communicator with a collaborative, hands-on leadership style
- Prior experience using ADP is highly regarded.
