About the Position
Reporting to the Manager – Development Services, this critical leadership position will be responsible for overseeing a large and diverse team of 35 staff in a rapidly growing team across plumbing assessment, compliance, and enforcement services as well as support services.

This role is a key leader within the Development Services branch, which has undergone progressive and innovative change to create efficiency and effectiveness of the services provided. This journey will continue to be driven by this position, promoting evolution and transformation to ensure they are a proactive, agile and effective function. 

It will lead and coordinate an integrated and collaborative approach to the assessment, compliance and enforcement process for plumbing matters undertaken in the Plumbing Services Team and with others across the branch and other areas of Council.

About the Person
You will bring a strong track record of success in leading similarly large and diverse teams through change. A strategic thinker, you will ideally have an understanding of the development lifecycle (specific plumbing experience/qualifications is not a pre-requisite), and the interrelationships between plumbing services, development assessment and population growth to contribute towards economic development, environmental sustainability and growth management for the region and the community.

An understanding or experience within similar public-sector environments and the nuances would be highly beneficial, as would knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, standards, polices and state government codes, in particular those associated with plumbing assessment, inspections and compliance.

Effective stakeholder management and influencing skills are also important prerequisites to foster strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
