Our client is a large industry-leading food manufacturer, with household names. They have a strong emphasis on innovation to ensure they are producing to the most efficient and highest quality. They are seeking a skilled Process Engineer for their facility based in Melbourne’s South East.
  

About the Role:

We are seeking a talented Process Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a key role in optimizing the food manufacturing processes. Reporting as 2IC to the Area and Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for evaluating, improving, and maintaining production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions that enhance productivity and product quality.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze existing production processes and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Design and implement process enhancements to optimise production while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations, equipment failures, and quality issues, and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production teams to scale up new products and processes from pilot to full production.
  • Serve as the second-in-command (2IC) to the Area and Maintenance Manager, assisting in overseeing day-to-day operations and maintenance activities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by actively seeking out opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and workflows.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff to ensure proper execution of manufacturing processes.
  
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in process engineering within the food industry, with a focus on continuous improvement and optimization.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
