The company is an established and growing, Australian-owned engineering and manufacturing business; known for delivering technically sound, compliant systems in highly regulated environments. They supply critical infrastructure across industrial sectors nationally. This is a hands-on hybrid role combining mechanical design (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) with structured project management within an ISO-certified environment.
This role is primarily site-based (5 days per week), with occasional national travel as required.
Location: South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and deliver mechanical engineering projects from concept through to handover.
- Produce high-level concept designs, P&IDs and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Perform hydraulic and related engineering calculations to ensure technical accuracy.
- Prepare and manage quality documentation including ITPs, ITRs and MDRs.
- Act as a design checker, reviewing drawings and ensuring compliance with AU/UL standards and internal QA processes.
- Track project progress, costs, risks and issues; provide structured updates to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers and clients to maintain delivery schedules.
- Support procurement through preparation of technical specifications and BOMs.
- Investigate and resolve design non-conformances and technical challenges.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, standardisation and product development initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
- 2-3 years’ post-graduate experience in mechanical design and project coordination.
- Proven hands-on SolidWorks / AutoCAD capability.
- Strong knowledge of core engineering principles, hydraulic calculations, and understanding of welding, fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to liaise across a variety of stakeholders.
- A proactive, career-driven self-starter with high attention to detail and a desire to take ownership.
