We’re currently partnering with a Tier 1 infrastructure contractor who are seeking a Senior Project Procurement Manager to support delivery across major energy infrastructure construction projects.

This role requires a proven Australian infrastructure project procurement background, specifically within energy or utilities construction environments.

We are only in a position to consider candidates who have operated within major capital projects across energy, transmission, renewables, utilities or heavy civil infrastructure.

The organisation

Our client is a well-renowned Tier 1 infrastructure contractor and recognised leader in the delivery of large-scale energy and utilities infrastructure projects across Australia.

With a strong pipeline of secured work ranging from $100m–$1bn+ in value, these projects are commercially complex and high profile, requiring strong procurement leadership across bid, pre-contract and mobilisation phases.

The role

Reporting into senior commercial leadership, you will lead procurement strategy across major energy infrastructure projects while managing and developing two direct reports within the project procurement function.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and executing procurement and subcontracting strategies for complex, high-value energy project packages
  • Supporting major bids and tenders with market intelligence, cost inputs, risk assessments and sourcing approaches
  • Leading end-to-end procurement for subcontract packages and specialist equipment, including long-lead items
  • Preparing tender documentation, managing evaluation processes and resolving commercial and technical non-compliances
  • Leading commercial negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve best-for-project outcomes
  • Drafting and negotiating subcontract terms within EPC, D&C and ECI contracting environments
  • Partnering with project leadership during mobilisation to ensure cost, schedule and risk outcomes are achieved
  • Providing leadership, oversight and capability development to two direct reports
  • Ensuring strong governance, auditability and compliance with procurement frameworks and client requirements
These roles require strong stakeholder engagement capability and the confidence to operate at senior levels within large Tier 1 project delivery environments.

Your background

We are keen to speak with professionals who can demonstrate:
  • 7–10+ years’ experience in project-based procurement within Australian infrastructure construction, ideally energy or utilities
  • Proven capability managing high-value, high-risk or technically complex subcontract packages
  • Strong experience supporting or leading major bids, tenders and project mobilisation
  • Deep understanding of Australian construction contracting models (EPC, D&C, ECI etc.)
  • Experience leading or mentoring procurement team members
  • Strong commercial acumen, problem-solving ability and attention to detail
Formal tertiary qualifications in supply chain, commerce, engineering, construction management or similar are preferred but not essential for the right infrastructure background.

What’s on offer
  • Permanent opportunity within a Tier 1 infrastructure contractor
  • Salary package of approximately $200,000–$220,000 + super
  • Predominantly Melbourne based role with hybrid arrangement
  • Exposure to large-scale, high-profile energy projects
  • Strong long-term pipeline of secured work
  • Leadership responsibility and genuine commercial influence within delivery teams
