About the Company
Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) owns and operates Awoonga Dam on the Boyne River along with a network of delivery pipelines, water treatment plants and other bulk water distribution infrastructure in the Gladstone region in Central Queensland. GAWB's purpose is to ensure the long and short term water needs of current and future customers are met in ways that are environmentally, socially and commercially sustainable. In addition to the supply and transportation of bulk water, GAWB provides important services to the community, including catchment management, a fish hatchery and recreational facilities.
  
About the Role
The Risk and Compliance Manager, reporting to the Chief Governance Officer, will play a key part in enhancing GAWB’s Risk Management Framework through the outworking of a substantial business improvement project. The role will work across the organisation at all levels, liaising with Business Units to embed the changes to the Risk Management Framework and ensure effective operation of risk management across the organisation. This will include the provision of specialist assistance and advice in the identification and management of operational risks. It will also develop, maintain, and enhance processes to effectively monitor and review the Compliance Management Framework in accordance with the International Standard. The role has accountability for records management,  involvement with disaster management plans and will act as the organisation’s fire safety advisor.
  
About You
You will hold qualifications in law, business or risk management  and hold a substantial level of experience in enterprise risk management frameworks.  You will be an expert communicator – both written and verbal – as you will be required to liaise with a wide variety of stakeholders across the business to ensure that risk and compliance is maintained and managed appropriately. Ideally, you will also be qualified to audit management systems and be able to demonstrate experience in implementing quality management systems. You will also have an approach to your work that aligns with GAWB’s values.
