This role offers exposure to complex, utility-scale energy projects while allowing you to remain technically hands-on. You’ll work alongside senior primary design engineers, applying power systems expertise to ensure electrical designs are compliant, constructible and perform as intended.
It is well suited to engineers who enjoy problem-solving, delivery support and seeing their work implemented on site.
About the Role
You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering HV and power systems across renewable and grid-connected projects. You’ll work closely with project, procurement and construction teams to ensure electrical systems are safely and effectively implemented.
Location: Inner east Melbourne
Key responsibilities:
- Design LV, MV and HV electrical systems, including SLDs, schematics and cable schedules.
- Perform electrical studies such as load flow, short-circuit and protection coordination.
- Support procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Interface with utilities and approval authorities on electrical matters.
- Collaborate with primary, secondary and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- 7+ years’ experience in electrical design engineering within power, renewables or substations.
- Strong exposure to HV systems and grid-connected infrastructure.
- Experience producing single line diagrams and electrical design documentation.
- Familiarity with tools such as ETAP, PowerFactory, PSCAD or similar.
- Understanding of Australian standards and utility requirements.
- Practical, delivery-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.
- Chartered or working towards chartership (desirable).
