In this role you will be involved in:

  • Interpreting specialised legal advice from external legal providers and communicate this to the business units in a way that can be readily understood as, and when required
  • Stakeholder management with external legal providers
  • Providing support to the General Manager, Legal Risk & Compliance (also Board Secretary) on company secretarial and governance matters
  • Providing advice and recommendations (in conjunction with relevant business units) on the development and implementation of policy implications arising from legislation change, policy gaps and new product development
  • In conjunction with other organisational stakeholders, assist with the formulation of proposals for legislative amendments to the Fund’s governing rules and provide input into the drafting of any such amendments 
  • Managing and providing legal advice regarding superannuation case work and major projects affecting the organisation 
  • Managing litigation affecting the organisation, including negotiation of claims
  • Overseeing contract management across the organisation including the drafting and negotiation of contracts 
  • Ensuring the organisation has appropriate levels of trustee liability and crime insurance
  • Developing and implement a work plan that supports the business on a range of corporate legal issues
  • Assisting in developing a compliance aware culture through the organisation by ensuring employees are aware of their compliance obligations 
  • Reviewing of marketing documentation, PDSs, forms, letters and newsletters
  • Assisting in the preparation and presentation of submissions to the organisation's Board and Committees
  • Managing the Legislative Steering Committee
  • Legal advice to internal stakeholders regarding death benefit disputes, determination of breaches and other ad hoc requests
  • Reviewing and responding to subpoenas and other legal documentation
To be considered for this role. You will have at least 5 years PQE and had significant exposure working within the Super space. Experience across litigation would be advantageous but not a prerequisite. You will have excellent analytical skills. A strong commercial mindset and the ability to forge in-depth internal relationships. You will also have exceptionally good communication skills and the ability to implement change.
