The Position

A reputable and growing organisation in the far northern suburbs of Brisbane are seeking the talents of an experienced and driven Senior Payroll Officer to commence in a permanent full-time role within their thriving payroll team. 

This role provides you the opportunity to work in a collaborative team to perform a payroll service for a workforce exceeding 1000. Working in a high-performing team within payroll, you will provide guidance to Payroll officers and support to the Payroll Manager. You will be supported and guided to ensure you are a successful member of the organisation. This organisation is located in far north Brisbane with parking options available and a flexible hybrid working model allowing two days work from home a week. 


Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for performing a full function payroll service for a workforce exceeding 1000. Your key responsibilities will include, however are not limited to:
  • End-to-end payroll processing for a workforce of 1000+ (manual and electronic);
  • Provide support to the Payroll Manager ensuring team goals are met to a high standard;
  • Provide training, support and expert advice to the business to ensure the integrity and accuracy of T&A data;
  • Coach and mentor Payroll Officers to ensure consistency across the team with processes;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including the interpretation of Modern Awards and EBAs;
  • Maintain personnel file records, correspondence and accurate records of all payroll related information either received or distributed by the payroll team.

Skills & Experience

As the suitable candidate for this position, you will hold prior relevant and recent experience in payroll with a passion to advance your skills in a senior payroll position. Prior experience as a Senior Payroll Officer is not required, and this role would suit a Payroll Officer ready to step up or a Senior Payroll Officer. In addition, you will also:
  • High attention to detail while working in a high-volume payroll environment;
  • Extensive end-to-end payroll experience;
  • Demonstrated understanding of payroll regulations and laws;
  • Adaptive communication style to ensure an open, professional and friendly manner to all levels within the organisation;
  • Positive and friendly work ethic and a strong team player;
  • High computer literacy in all Microsoft office applications (particularly Excel) and experience using a large ERP payroll system.
