This role plays a critical part in both bid and project delivery phases, partnering closely with project directors, commercial teams, and engineering leaders to develop and execute robust sourcing and contracting strategies.
The opportunity You will lead and support procurement and subcontracting activities across complex capital works programs, including transmission, substations, and specialist infrastructure packages. The role offers strong exposure to senior stakeholders and high-value, high-risk procurement environments.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with bid and project teams to develop competitive, compliant procurement strategies
- Lead sourcing, tendering and contract negotiations for high-value subcontract and supplier packages
- Prepare and present award recommendations supported by strong commercial analysis
- Manage procurement activities from strategy through to contract execution and handover
- Engage and build strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers
- Identify and manage supply chain risks, long-lead items, and market constraints
- Ensure procurement activities align with governance, ESG, and value-for-money principles
- Collaborate with internal legal, finance, commercial and regional procurement teams
- 7+ years’ experience in project procurement or contracts management within energy, utilities, infrastructure or resources
- Proven experience supporting major bids, tenders, and project mobilisation
- Strong understanding of subcontracting, commercial negotiations and Australian construction contracts
- Experience procuring high-value, high-risk or technically complex packages (including long-lead or international supply)
- Confident stakeholder manager with strong commercial acumen
- Proactive, hands-on and comfortable operating in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
