Responsibilities will include:
- Is highly autonomous in the role, pre-empts team and business requirements before known
- Delegates work to and supervise other staff members
- Provides training and mentoring to other staff members
- Review the work of all accountants
- Has an excellent understanding of Australian tax legislation specifically as applies to SMEs (including state taxes)
- Has an excellent understanding of and can apply tax minimisation strategies
- Liaises with the ATO for complex matters e.g. entering payment arrangements, lodging tax objections
- Liaises with various statutory authorities on behalf of clients including the ATO and ASIC
- Has a good understanding of client accounting software e.g. Xero
- Enters bank statement transactions autonomously into accounting software 11. Ability to update, maintain and reconcile fixed asset register including new assets, processing depreciation, disposals, trade-ins
- Understand different business structures and restructures
- Can prepare and finalise income tax return for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Can prepare and finalise SMSF financial statements & income tax returns and associated work papers (if applicable)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field. MBA or relevant professional certifications (CA, CPA) are a plus.
- Proven experience in a managerial role within the financial services industry.
