Training and Capability Specialist – Operational Readiness and Systems Uplift

A major public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Training and Capability Specialist to support the operational readiness of new and existing systems, equipment, and facility functions. The role focuses on workforce capability uplift in preparation for the commissioning of a large, high-profile facility in South-East Queensland.

You will play a critical role in designing and delivering training and awareness programs that support frontline operational effectiveness and ensure consistent, confident use of core systems, such as structured day tools, FF&E, and the Integrated Offender Management System (IOMS).

Key Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate, and deliver training and awareness programs tailored for diverse operational staff.
• Engage with internal stakeholders across the state to identify skills gaps through methods such as audits or feedback channels.
• Develop learning materials (face-to-face and eLearning), using platforms such as Articulate Storyline, TechSmith Camtasia, and Author-it.
• Leverage digital tools including Microsoft 365 and learning management systems to improve training access and delivery.
• Deliver training to a variety of audiences—including adult learners in remote or secure environments.
• Ensure alignment with operational goals, policies, and Queensland Government ICT standards.
• Contribute to user acceptance testing, release note development, and expert front-end user support.
• Support ongoing system change by building capability and providing subject matter expertise across multiple sites.

About You You are someone who:

• Has experience designing and delivering training for complex system implementations or operational processes.
• Understands adult learning principles and is confident facilitating in-person and online sessions.
• Thrives in high-pressure environments and can adapt training content for varied learner needs.
• Can rapidly acquire knowledge of operational and ICT environments—ideally within a government or justice-related context.
• Communicates clearly, tailors messaging to different audiences, and can present and think on your feet.
• Brings a collaborative approach to working with diverse stakeholders across geographic locations.
• Is experienced with training evaluation, continuous improvement and digital training tools.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Competency-based training and assessment design
• eLearning content development (Author-it, Articulate, Camtasia)
• Change management and system deployment experience
• Experience working in operational environments with secure facilities or public safety agencies
