Client: A global leader in technical services is seeking a hands-on, commercially astute Financial Controller to lead its Australia & New Zealand finance function. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and partnering closely with APAC and European stakeholders, this is a pivotal leadership role suited to someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth, small-to-medium sized environments where adaptability and accountability matter. This is not a role for someone who sits back. We are looking for a proactive leader who rolls up their sleeves, brings structure to complexity, strengthens controls, and drives performance. Experience operating within an international group – particularly reporting into Europe – will be highly regarded. The Opportunity:You will take full ownership of the ANZ finance function, leading a team of eight across accounting, reporting and compliance. You will ensure robust financial control, timely and accurate reporting, strong cash management and working capital discipline, while providing meaningful commercial insights to support strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor and develop a team of 8 finance professionals Drive accountability, clarity of roles and a culture of continuous improvement Foster collaboration across finance and operational teams Financial Control & Compliance Oversee all accounting operations (GL, AP/AR, payroll, tax) Own month-end close across P&L and Balance Sheet, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Ensure balance sheet integrity through strong reconciliations and controls Manage statutory compliance, tax obligations and external audit processes (local GAAP & IFRS) Enforce Group policies, Delegation of Authority and internal control frameworks Cash & Working Capital Management Implement robust cash management processes Drive working capital optimisation, with strong focus on DSO Monitor credit risk and receivables performance Reporting & Business Partnering Deliver monthly, quarterly and Group reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet, FCF, KPIs) Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis Provide actionable insights to the Managing Director and regional leadership Support monthly business reviews and strategic planning initiatives Process Improvement & Governance Strengthen internal controls and financial governance Improve finance processes to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy Clarify ownership of key controls and cross-functional responsibilities Support ad hoc strategic and operational projects Candidate: Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader within a fast-growing SME or mid-sized business Comfortable operating in dynamic, evolving environments where building structure and “cleaning things up” is required Strong technical accounting knowledge with IFRS exposure Experience reporting to overseas Group/European headquarters highly advantageous Commercially sharp, hands-on and solutions-focused Confident partnering with senior leadership and influencing decision-making Strong people leader who builds capability and accountability How to apply:To apply online, please click on the appropriate link below.
