An opportunity has become available for a Senior Finance Officer to join a state hovernment department for an initial six month contract role, wiht high likelihood of a long-term extension.
As Senior Finance Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting financial accounting and compliance activities. Working closely with the Financial Accountant, you’ll be involved in tax compliance, payroll review, reconciliations, reporting, and audit preparation. You’ll also liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, gaining exposure across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, however are not limited to:
- Manage and process accounts payable and receivable transactions;
- Support all month-end processes and year-end financial obligations;
- Prepare and review tax returns, reconciliations, and payroll reports;
- Support month-end and year-end processes including journals and accruals;
- Contribute to financial reporting, audits, and statutory submissions.
- Manage payroll function for the group including superannuation, tax and reporting;
- Assist with all budgeting and cash flow preparation;
- Support project accounting duties including, reporting, reconciliation of accounts and drawdown requests;
- Daily bank and intercompany reconciliations and review of financials relating to property settlements.
Skills and Experience
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting practices and tax legislation (GST, FBT, Payroll Tax);
- Experience with reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to changing priorities;
- ERP system experience (TechnologyOne highly regarded).
- Ability to problem solve and show initiative;
- Effective and adaptive interpersonal communication skills;
- High attention to detail, with the ability to recognise inconsistencies and make adjustments.
