The Role
As the Accountant, your role will see you act as key partner for the team, whilst business partnering with teams at site level.
You will collaborate with senior leaders and operational stakeholders.
This role will start ASAP as a contract role to ensure a handover is completed. The role will then evolve into a full time position over the next 2-3 months.
Your duties will include:
- Perform day to day account processing for corporate accounts, including general journals, bank reconciliations, and lease accounting.
- Manage all financial aspects for various business units.
- Preparation of monthly GL reconciliations and financial statements, including credit card reconciliations.
- Manage & Maintain Fixed-Asset register.
- Assist in maintaining financial and cash flow forecast updates to ensure sufficient cash requirement.
- Preparation of the quarterly BAS/IAS and annual FBT return.
- Support the Financial Controller and business in adhoc queries, projects and other related duties as required.
- Prepare quarterly BAS statements and annual Income Tax & FBT returns
- Liaise with the external accountants on financial reporting and auditing
- Assisting the finance and admin team with training and support where required.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance financial operations, systems, and reporting efficiency; and
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in finance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
You will be a CA/CPA qualified accounting professional and will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills as your ability to interact and engage cross-functionally within the business will be crucial. Key skills include:
- 5 years’ experience in a commercial environment - particularly high pace and high volume. Mining Services experience highly desirable.
- Proven experience as an Accountant in a similar role.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data from multiple sources and provide strategic insights.
- Proficiency in financial and management accounting and advanced knowledge of tier one financial software (Oracle, Pronto, Dynamics 365 OR SAP)
