About the Role

Manage and support the marketing team to drive marketing initiatives throughout the year whilst leading the team through a period of change and growth as you finalise and implement key strategies.

This role will manage all marketing channels from PR & media to social media to achieve year-on-year brand growth for NBCF with a particular focus on celebrating 30 years of impact and research funded by NBCF.

The Acting Head of Marketing will, implement and report on the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s (NBCF) national brand and marketing strategies.

The Brand strategy is focused on increasing awareness and consideration to support NBCF towards our vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer. Whilst the Marketing strategy is focused on audience identification and segmentation and end to end customer journeys to ensure that our communications across the organisation are targeted and effective.

Key Responsibilities

The role is responsible for all aspects of brand awareness, marketing and communications at NBCF. More specifically, these responsibilities include the following:

Leadership and team management
  • Provide high levels of leadership and management to the NBCF marketing team
  • Collaborate effectively across the organisation to elevate the role of brand and marketing as core drivers of business outcomes at NBCF.

Planning and reporting
  • Manage multiple agencies to deliver initiatives and implement strategies
  • Plan and co-ordinate key awareness raising opportunities marking NBCF’s 30th anniversary e.g. Breast Cancer Awareness Month
  • Report on key metrics and progress towards the marketing objectives in the business plan to the Senior Team and Board.
  • Manage the marketing budget and complete quarterly re-forecasts.

PR & Media
  • Oversee and successfully deliver media campaigns raising awareness of NBCF’s vision and purpose.
  • Support the team to brief NBCF spokespeople for media interviews.
  • Ensure Senior Management are aware of any relevant material issues (e.g. social media or media) in a timely manner and are equipped to respond if appropriate.
  • Provide speeches for NBCF spokespeople when required.

Digital awareness and social media
  • Review NBCF’s social media and website content
  • Manage NBCF’s search engine optimisation strategy
  • Oversee NBCF’s online merchandise store reporting on performance
  • Oversee Community Management of all social media channels including managing responses for any negative communications.

Brand and content
  • Ensure the NBCF content hub is kept up to date including all key message documents.
  • Ensure NBCF’s brand approvals process is reviewed in line with strategy implementation
  • Oversee the management and delivery of online and print versions of NBCF’s annual report.
  • Oversee brand video and photo shoots

Ambassadors and volunteers
  • Oversee the Community Ambassador program and ensure business requirements are fulfilled.
  • Oversee NBCF’s brand ambassador and influencer activity
  • Oversee office / event volunteer requirements.

Strategy development and implementation

  • Shape and lead the implementation and management of the Brand and Marketing strategies to achieve NBCF's overall business objectives
  • Lead monitoring, evaluation and reporting of progress against the Brand and Marketing strategies.

  • 7+ years marketing / communications related experience and qualifications
  • A strong understanding of marketing channels including PR & media, digital marketing and social media
  • Demonstrated experience of managing a marketing team
  • Outstanding people management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Demonstrated ability  to balance strategic planning with practical implementation
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic initiatives
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven to deliver results and ability to report on value/outcomes from marketing activity.
