An established and growing business within the residential construction sector is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their close-knit finance team. The Role
This full-time position will see you working closely with the Finance Manager, providing essential support across day-to-day accounting functions. You will be responsible for transactional processing, reconciliations, and the timely reporting required by both internal stakeholders and external clients.
  
Responsibilities
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities.
  • Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and manage intercompany recharging.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Manage cost analysis and reporting.
  • Generate and reconcile customer invoices and supplier rebates.
  • Process accounts payable transactions, including employee reimbursements and business credit card management.
  • Oversee payment runs with appropriate validation checks.
  • Maintain supplier and customer data in accounting software.
  • Reconcile customer invoicing and manage debtor reporting.
  • Prepare consolidated debtor and payable reports for both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide general finance support as required by the Finance Manager.
The Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • At least 2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • A CPA or CA qualification or be currently working towards it.
  • Full Australian working rights.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent time management, organisation, and prioritisation abilities.
  • Solid experience with Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, and other finance software systems.
  • A collaborative, professional, and positive team attitude.
  • Building industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
