A well-established national organisation operating within a procurement-focused environment is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. The business is known for its collaborative culture, strong systems and focus on delivering value across Australia.
The Role
This role sits within a supportive finance function and reports to the CFO. The Assistant Accountant will support core accounting and reporting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial information to support business operations. This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to build on their accounting foundations within a commercial organisation.
Responsibilities
- Support month-end close processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger integrity
- Assist with management reporting, variance analysis and financial commentary
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial performance reporting
- Assist with AP, AR, fixed assets and bank reconciliations
- Provide accurate and timely financial data to the broader finance team
- Degree qualified in Finance, Commerce, Business or a related discipline
- CA/CPA qualified or currently studying towards qualification
- 3–5 years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role
- High attention to detail and strong focus on accuracy
- Solid Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
- Well organised with the ability to manage deadlines
