The Position

As the Assistant Accountant, you will report directly to a senior Finance member and play a key role in the day-to-day finance operations. This is a hands-on position with full ownership across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll, while also supporting month-end processes, reporting, and broader financial activities.

You will work closely with the wider finance team, contribute to process improvements, and support junior staff, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a well-rounded and progressive accounting role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable, including invoice processing, reconciliations, and supplier management.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable processes including invoicing, receipting, and credit control.
  • Process end-to-end payroll, ensuring compliance with awards, superannuation, and tax obligations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports, management reports, and board packs.
  • Assist with BAS, FBT, and other statutory compliance requirements.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities alongside the Financial Accountant.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members across AP, AR, and Payroll.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and ad hoc finance projects.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar Assistant Accountant or end-to-end accounts role.
  • Experience across AP, AR, and Payroll functions.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and contribute to team success.
