Audio Visual Technician (Systems Analyst) – 12-Month Government

Sharp & Carter is partnering with a respected Government Department to recruit an experienced Audio Visual Technician / System Analyst for an initial 12-month contract. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work, has a strong technical AV background, and is keen to contribute to meaningful projects across Queensland — including in courtrooms, justice facilities, and public-facing spaces.
You’ll join a collaborative AV project team and act as the go-to technical expert for the rollout, support, and evolution of AV systems. The role includes site visits (with occasional overnight stays) to support new installations and provide hands-on guidance to field teams and vendors.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Review AV system proposals and equipment specs from suppliers to ensure quality, consistency, and functionality
  • Prepare technical documentation and AV requirements to support upcoming project tenders
  • Assist with user acceptance testing and sign-off for completed AV installations
  • Provide subject matter expertise and support as AV projects transition into BAU support
  • Research and recommend new AV technologies or upgrades to improve user experience and reduce costs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex AV technical issues, recommending fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Build strong relationships with project teams, court users, vendors, and support staff
What We’re Looking For
  • Solid hands-on experience in AV system installation, integration, or engineering design
  • Familiarity with courtroom AV setups, video conferencing, control systems, or commercial AV environments
  • Comfortable interpreting technical drawings, layouts, and system specs
  • Confident working independently while being a collaborative team player
  • Clear communicator with the ability to translate technical jargon into plain English for non-technical users
  • Willingness to travel regionally (semi-regularly) and stay overnight if required
  • Qualifications in AV technology or relevant vendor certifications (desirable but not essential)
Why Join?
  • Work on a wide variety of AV systems in meaningful government settings
  • Be part of a team modernising how justice services are delivered across Queensland
  • Gain exposure to both project and operational support environments
  • Competitive contract rates, hybrid team environment, and potential for extension
