Business Analyst – Payments & Finance Uplift | Contract to Dec 2025 + Extension
The role
We’re looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a high-impact Payments Optimisation and Compliance Initiative currently in the Discovery phase. The focus is on improving digital payment processes and compliance frameworks across finance and student business domains.
You’ll play a key role in shaping future-state recommendations, refining existing workflows, and engaging senior stakeholders to drive meaningful outcomes. This is a hands-on delivery role where you’ll need to hit the ground running - perfect for a seasoned BA who enjoys the mix of stakeholder engagement, documentation, and process design.
- Contract through to 19 December 2025
- Likely extension into Q1 2026
- Hybrid working – flexible onsite presence in Brisbane
Responsibilities
- Lead workshops and deep-dive discussions with stakeholders across multiple business units
- Conduct current-state mapping, identify pain points, and define clear future-state requirements
- Drive gap-fit analysis, support solution feasibility assessments, and present outcomes to steering committee and sponsors
- Translate business needs into user stories and collaborate with developers and vendors on delivery
- Investigate alternative payment gateway solutions and support light-touch market research if needed
Skills Required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst, ideally across finance, payments, or student administration domains.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills, with a track record of working across multiple business units.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, tight timeframes, and shifting priorities with a proactive, delivery-focused mindset.
- Experience jumping into existing projects without detailed handover and quickly getting up to speed.
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to payment gateways or procurement processes, ERP systems (e.g. PeopleSoft), and knowledge of compliance within finance operations.
