As a key member of the Executive Team, the Commercial Finance Manager plays a key role in supporting the Hospital CEO, ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency of Mulgrave Private Hospital. You will oversee financial reporting, internal controls, and strategic planning to optimise hospital performance. This includes cost management, theatre allocations, case mix planning, and patient length of stay. You will also be responsible for managing a number of non-clinical areas.
With strong technical accounting expertise and commercial acumen, you will drive process improvements and provide decision support to leadership teams, enhancing efficiency and financial outcomes across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting

• Prepare accurate, insightful financial reports that drive strategic decision-making.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements.

Decision Support & Business Partnering

• Provide commercial insights to optimise hospital operations, including labour costs, theatre allocations, and patient length of stay.
• Collaborate with department heads to improve financial performance and efficiency.
• Develop financial models to support business growth and investment decisions.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Maintain strong financial governance, ensuring adherence to corporate policies.
• Oversee risk management and internal audit processes.
• Implement process improvements to enhance financial integrity and operational effectiveness.

Accounting & Operational Leadership

• Supervise accounting functions, including payroll reconciliation, accounts payable, and capital expenditure management.
• Support administrative, billing, and coding teams to ensure financial and operational goals are met.
• Monitor debt collection and procurement costs to drive financial sustainability.

Non-Clinical Department Management

• Lead administrative, supply, maintenance, billing and coding teams.
• Monitor and improve performance against KPIs.
• Oversee debt collection and stock management processes.
• Equipment and maintenance contract management.
• Overseeing the supply and stock control inventory management

About you

• CPA or CA qualified
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Finance Manager, with 5+ years in a financial environment.
• Strong financial acumen and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights and recommendations.
• Demonstrated experience and ability to provide leadership at a senior management level with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to a diverse stakeholder group.
• Proficiency in excel and financial modelling expertise.
• Ability to function autonomously and tackle new and diverse tasks with minimal direction and supervision.
• Strong knowledge of technical accounting, accounting systems and internal controls – together with the commercial acumen to apply these practically in a growing environment.
