A major organisation is embarking on a significant technology separation and modernisation program, and we’re seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead to join on a 12-month contract.
About the Role
As the Data Governance Lead, you’ll provide oversight and quality assurance across all data-related activities. You’ll review vendor work, establish governance standards, and ensure data is accurate, compliant, and fit-for-purpose ahead of go-live.
You’ll work closely with architecture, cybersecurity, data partners, and functional workstreams to uplift data practices and support a seamless transition into the new environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and maintain a data governance and quality framework
- Review vendor data migration activities (mapping, cleansing, validation, reconciliation)
- Define and enforce data quality and acceptance criteria
- Provide independent QA, reporting, and readiness assessments
- Ensure compliance with privacy, retention, security, and regulatory standards
- Identify, track, and report data-related risks, issues, and dependencies
- Support the uplift and embedding of sustainable governance practices
- 7+ years in data governance, data quality, or information management
- Experience supporting or reviewing data migration or data transition activities
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks (DAMA, DMBOK, ISO standards)
- Understanding of privacy and security obligations (ISO27001, NIST, APPs)
- Ability to interpret mapping, modelling, validation, and reconciliation outputs
- Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Comfortable working in multi-vendor, program-driven environments.
