Our client is a leading provider of liquid waste management services in Victoria. With consistent annual growth of over 45%, the business has expanded beyond the capacity of its founding team and is now seeking a finance leader to help drive its next stage of growth.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, the Finance Manager will take ownership of the finance function while supporting broader business operations. This is a standalone role with AP/AR support, combining technical accounting expertise, process improvement, and commercial insight.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leading all finance functions including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis.
- Implementing and maintaining effective financial controls to ensure compliance.
- Overseeing AP/AR and ensuring accurate, timely processing.
- Providing strategic insights to the Directors to support decision-making and growth.
- Streamlining processes and systems to improve operational efficiency.
- Offering hands-on support across business operations, including logistics oversight where required.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance professional who thrives in a fast-growing SME environment. They will bring both technical strength and commercial acumen, with the ability to step beyond pure finance and support wider business operations.
Key skills and experience:
- 5+ years’ experience in a finance management role, ideally in a standalone or SME environment.
- Strong technical accounting skills and experience leading end-to-end finance.
- Proven ability to improve processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Industry exposure in waste management, logistics, or industrial services advantageous.
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/CA highly desirable.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to partner closely with business owners.
- Adaptable, pragmatic, and comfortable in a hands-on role.
