Client: 
An established and highly regarded independent school in Melbourne’s south-east is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead its financial operations and support the ongoing growth and sustainability of the school.

The Role:
Reporting to the Business Manager and working closely with the Principal and Board, the Finance Manager is responsible for the effective management of the College’s financial function.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Oversight of all financial operations including accounts payable and receivable, payroll and cash flow management
  • Preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and long-term financial plans
  • Delivery of timely and accurate monthly management reports to senior leadership and the Board
  • Preparation of statutory accounts and coordination of the annual external audit
  • Management of taxation obligations, compliance and regulatory reporting
  • Oversight of financial controls, risk management and insurance
  • Leadership, mentoring and development of the finance team
The role requires a balance of strategic thinking and operational involvement, ensuring both financial integrity and continuous improvement across systems and processes.

Candidate: 
You are a qualified CA or CPA with demonstrated experience in a finance leadership role within a complex organisation. You bring strong technical capability, sound judgement and the confidence to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
You will also demonstrate:
  • A high level of integrity and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and reporting capability
  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial leaders
  • A collaborative and steady leadership style
  • The capacity to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
Experience within the education or not-for-profit sector will be well regarded but is not essential.
