About the Role 
Reporting to the Senior Food Scientist, you will play a key role in supporting new product development (NPD) and continuous improvement initiatives within a busy R&D environment, with an approximate 60/40 split across innovation and optimisation projects. Working within a technically strong and collaborative team, you will lead formulation development, sensory evaluation and product validation, contributing to successful product launches across Retail and Food Service channels while ensuring all products meet food safety, quality and regulatory standards. 

Operating within FSANZ, HACCP, BRC and GMP requirements, you will collaborate closely with Production, Packaging, Quality, Procurement, Operations and Commercial teams to deliver robust, technically sound and commercially viable food solutions. Your responsibilities will include raw material and supplier assessment, ingredient and cost optimisation,  maintaining technical documentation and specifications (including nutritional labelling) conducting shelf-life trials, interpreting analytical data, and troubleshooting production challenges on high-speed manufacturing lines where small formulation changes can have significant operational impact. 

Skills & Experience 
To succeed in this role, you will bring experience within food manufacturing, strong technical capability and hands-on production exposure, with the ability to balance creativity and process discipline in a fast-paced environment. 

• Tertiary qualification in Food Science or related discipline 
• Experience in food manufacturing (bakery or dough highly regarded) 
• Strong understanding of food regulations, nutritional labelling, HACCP and GMP 
• Analytical mindset with strong formulation and problem-solving skills 
• Interest or exposure to packaging and packaging films 
• Comfortable working both on the production floor and across documentation 
• Collaborative team player with strong stakeholder engagement skills
