My client are a dynamic and rapidly expanding international retailer with a strong presence in the home and kitchen goods sector. They are committed to to delivering high quality products and exceptional customer experiences for customers. As the business continues to grow, they are seeking a highly skilled and strategic individual to join our team as the Head of Category for the Kitchenware department. This role will play a pivotal part in driving the success of our kitchen category across our stores. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive category strategy, managing a diverse product portfolio across private label and branded whilst driving profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing the Kitchenware portfolio across the business, managing the Buying and Product team.
- Category Strategy:
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for the kitchen category, aligning with overall business objectives.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
- Drive product assortment strategies to meet customer needs and preferences.
- Product Management:
- Oversee the selection, sourcing, and onboarding of new kitchen products.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure a high-quality and diverse product offering.
- Manage inventory levels, pricing strategies, and promotional activities to maximize sales and profitability.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and inspire a cross-functional team, including category managers, buyers, and product designers.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to foster professional development.
- Collaborate with other department heads to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to overall business success.
- Financial Performance:
- Develop and manage the category budget, ensuring financial targets are met and exceeded.
- Analyze sales data and key performance indicators to make data-driven decisions and optimize category performance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with marketing teams to develop effective promotional campaigns and marketing strategies.
- Collaborate with store operations to ensure consistent and impactful in-store displays and layouts.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in retail management in either Buying, Category or Product Development.
- Ideally experience within the homewares/hard goods sector
- Must have managed a team of people
