Location : New South Wales
Job type : Permanent or Full Time

About the Organisation
Sharp & Carter are proud to partner with our client, a global leader in manufacturing and production. With a strong focus on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and workforce capability, the business is committed to embedding HSE excellence as a core part of its operations.
They are now looking for an experienced HSE Manager who can work side-by-side with leaders and teams to translate strategy into practical, on-the-ground safety outcomes.

About the Role
This is a HSE leadership role responsible for driving health, safety and environmental performance across a major manufacturing operation.
This role offers a genuine blend of strategic influence and hands-on delivery, with a strong emphasis on site presence and visible leadership.

You will work closely with senior leaders to shape HSE governance, while remaining highly engaged on the floor — coaching leaders, engaging directly with the workforce, and ensuring safety systems are not just designed, but actively lived and embedded in day-to-day operations.

Success in this role will come from a willingness to roll up your sleeves, spend time in the operation, and lead from the front — translating frameworks and global standards into practical, workable solutions that drive sustainable behavioural change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide visible HSE leadership across a large manufacturing site, embedding safety as a core business value
  • Partner with senior leaders to build safety leadership capability and accountability at all levels
  • Spend significant time on the ground, engaging with teams and reinforcing safe behaviours in real time
  • Lead strategic HSE initiatives that strengthen risk management, governance and compliance
  • Oversee incident investigations and ensure learnings are translated into systemic improvements
  • Govern HSE compliance frameworks, audits, regulatory reporting and assurance processes
  • Use data, insights and trend analysis to identify risks and drive targeted improvement initiatives
  • Set direction for safety training and capability development across the site
  • Provide leadership in injury management, wellbeing and return-to-work processes
About You
  • Demonstrated experience within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Formal qualification in Work Health & Safety (Diploma minimum or equivalent)
  • Experience leading incident investigations (ICAM or similar) and audit processes
  • A hands-on, practical operator who is comfortable being on site and close to the workforce
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and lead from the front in a fast-paced environment
  • Pragmatic and solutions-focused, with the ability to balance strategy with execution
  • Strong communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience leading cultural change and embedding sustainable safety practices
Why This Opportunity?
This role will suit an experienced HSE leader who thrives on being close to operations, enjoys building capability on the ground, and takes pride in driving meaningful, visible safety outcomes.
