Interim Tax Specialist (12–14 Month FTC)
$130,000 – $150,000 + Super
Inner Southern Sydney location | 2 days in office | 4.5 day week (Friday afternoons off)

The Opportunity
This is a high-quality opportunity to join a globally recognised, US-owned business operating in a complex, fast-paced environment across Australia and New Zealand.

Sitting within a lean and high-performing finance function, this role offers end-to-end ownership of tax across ANZ, with exposure to both local compliance and global reporting requirements. You’ll operate as the standalone tax specialist locally, partnering closely with regional tax leadership and external advisors on more complex matters.

Importantly, you’ll be stepping into an environment where processes are already well-established, detailed and highly efficient, allowing you to focus on execution, stakeholder engagement and incremental improvement rather than building from scratch.

This is a 12–14 month fixed-term contract, ideally suited to someone who can step in quickly and add value from day one.

The Role
This is a broad and hands-on position covering both direct and indirect tax, alongside strong involvement in reporting and governance.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Ownership of Australian & New Zealand tax compliance across income tax, GST, FBT and payroll tax
  • Preparation of tax reporting packs for group, aligned to US and local reporting requirements
  • Management of tax provisioning (current and deferred), including reconciliations and journal inputs
  • Acting as the key point of contact for external advisors, auditors and revenue authorities
  • Supporting month-end and year-end processes, particularly across tax balances
  • Maintaining and enhancing tax governance, controls and SOX compliance
  • Supporting ad-hoc tax projects and integration workstreams as required
The Person
We’re open on profile, but you’ll ideally bring:
  • 4–8+ years experience in Australian tax compliance and reporting
  • CA / CPA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Background in Big 4 / mid-tier tax OR commercial environment
  • Strong technical grounding across corporate tax + indirect taxes
  • Experience in a multinational or complex environment (highly regarded)
  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to operate autonomously
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who is comfortable taking ownership and working independently, and working closely with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Why This Role?
  • Salary: up to $150,000 + Super
  • Start ASAP/subject to notice
  • True ownership of the ANZ tax function
  • Exposure to a global, US-headquartered business
  • Work within a function where processes are mature, structured and efficient
  • Strong work-life balance with a 4.5 day working week
  • Flexible hybrid model (2 days in office, Eveleigh)
  • Opportunity to make a tangible impact in a well-structured, high-performing environment
