About the Opportunity We’re seeking an experienced ICT Project Manager to lead a major Windows 11 Upgrade Program across a large Queensland Government department. This high-profile initiative will impact more than 12,000 users, with a total project budget of approximately $4 million.

The program spans metropolitan and regional service locations, involving complex technical requirements, change management, and coordination with multiple stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth transition, strong governance, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and execute the Windows 11 upgrade project plan in line with Queensland Government ICT frameworks.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in hardware readiness, software compatibility testing, application packaging, and deployment planning.
  • Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring delivery on scope, time, and budget.
  • Collaborate with ICT teams, business areas, vendors (e.g. Microsoft, device suppliers), and change managers.
  • Oversee pilot deployments and rollout phases using Intune, Configuration Manager, or equivalent tools.
  • Ensure compliance with cyber security, data governance, and asset management policies.
  • Support user readiness through communications, training coordination, and service desk uplift.
  • Report project status to governance bodies and steering committees.
  • Deliver project closure including handover documentation, evaluation reports, and lessons learned.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale ICT infrastructure or OS upgrade projects in enterprise or government environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11).
  • Familiarity with Intune architecture, SCCM, and endpoint management solutions.
  • Knowledge of cyber security requirements (e.g., patching, CIS Benchmarks, SecureScore remediation).
  • Demonstrated vendor management and contract negotiation skills.
  • Strong change management capability, including communications and training delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • High-level analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Desirable
  • Qualifications in PRINCE2, PMBOK, or Agile.
  • Microsoft certifications in Windows administration or system management.
  • Understanding of Queensland Government ICT frameworks and governance structures.
