As the Knowledge Counsel for Litigation you will be involved in:
  1. Proactively alerting their lawyers to key changes in the law and practice affecting their work. Attending/contributing to their lawyers’ industry group team meetings (on invitation) and providing updates on relevant current topics/significant changes in the law. 
  2. Responding to legal queries from their lawyers in Australia.  Advising their lawyers on the appropriate use of knowhow resources and providing support and guidance with legal research. 
  3. Supporting business development and marketing – working closely with the lawyers in the groups and the marketing department. Helping with the preparation of articles and content for published client briefings, bulletins, newsletters and information on the website. Work with the regional BD team to provide KM support on pitches, RFQs and panel appointments as required. 
  4. Client facing know How – supporting the firm’s client relationships by preparing and delivering knowhow and training to clients.  Designing client training programmes, preparing materials for and speaking at internal and external seminars/conferences and assisting with other knowhow based client services.
  5. Training and development – working closely with the L&D department and wider KM team, organising and (where appropriate) delivering internal technical training programmes for lawyers across all levels in Australia. Ensure that all relevant training is CPD accredited by the Law Society. Provide KM induction and support to new joiners in Australia. 
  6. Know How – taking responsibility for the collection, dissemination and management of Australian specific KM knowhow and ensuring that it is readily accessible to our lawyers on the firm’s global intranet knowledge database. 
  7. Maintenance of knowledge database – analysis of Australian material, profiling/indexing documents for inclusion in the Knowhow database, reviewing material for currency and promoting the tools to end-users. Updating and expanding Australian Knowhow materials. 
  8. Standard documents / templates – drafting, developing and maintaining necessary standard documents/templates, checklists, practice notes and toolkits (within relevant areas of practice).  Reviewing drafts prepared by others.  
  9. KM tools and resources – reviewing new productivity tools and resources, working with other relevant Business Services teams to ensure that their lawyers have access to the best tools/resources for their practice 
  10. Knowledge Management team – work with the London based sector specialist KCs to highlight and report on local Australian office KM needs/projects for the office/region and provide support for global KM initiatives. Attend KM team meetings remotely. Work with the wider KM team to contribute to delivery of the firm’s KM strategy and encourage the use of best practice. Share and promote KM within the firm and identify ways in which developments/innovations can best be communicated internally and externally. 
To be considered for this role you be a qualified lawyer with at least 5 years PQE across Dispute Resolution. You will have worked as a PSL or Knowledge Manager/Counsel. You will have excellent drafting, presentation and project management skills.
