This is a field-based role suited to someone confident working independently in the community, applying legislation pragmatically, and engaging with residents in a calm, professional manner.
Reporting into the Local Laws team, you will be responsible for managing amenity-related matters and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and council local laws.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting patrols, inspections and investigations relating to amenity and local law breaches
- Engaging directly with residents and businesses to provide education, guidance and direction
- Gathering evidence, taking statements, issuing cautions, notices to comply and infringements where required
- Managing matters through to resolution using council systems and accurate record-keeping
- De-escalating challenging situations and communicating outcomes clearly and professionally
- Initial 12-week casual assignment with strong potential for extension or ongoing work
- Immediate start
- Monday to Friday hours during training, moving to a rotating roster (including some weekends)
- $45–$55 per hour + super
- Council vehicle provided for work use
- Uniform, equipment and full systems training provided
- Previous Local Laws experience (essential)
- Strong communication skills and a professional, community-focused approach
- Confidence managing compliance matters and difficult conversations
- Sound judgement and the ability to apply legislation consistently
- Good written skills for notes, reports and evidence documentation
- Competence using mobile devices, CRM systems and basic office technology
- A current Victorian Driver Licence and full Australian working rights
